Spiritual Development
Everyone
needs to feed their spirit—most people don't know how. We begin
with the belief that everyone is a spiritual person and that
values, ethics and morality are essentially spiritual issues. We
also respect that the spirit manifests itself differently to
different people. Our seminars let individuals grow in their own
ways.
From Enron, to World Com,
to Martha Stewart,
it's obvious that organizations need to spend substantially more
time exploring the spiritual underpinnings of how they operate.
We offer seminars that will help business leaders clarify their
values and align them with their organization. Frank, up front
discussions about the ethical basis for business operations can
avoid serious problems later on.
We also offer programs that are geared to personal spiritual
awakenings. We begin by examining ancient texts that have
inspired people for thousands of years. We explore what the
original speakers said in their own context and how their voice
has meaning today. We also discuss icons of spirituality. By
exploring the spiritual journeys of others, we often find trail
guides for ourselves.
WHAT WAS I THINKING?
Most
people who find themselves on the wrong side of an ethical issue
didn't start out trying to make it happen. Often it's the result
of a series of missteps that didn't seem particularly
consequential. Sometimes people "just weren't thinking." Other
times, it's the result of confusion about priorities. The best
way to avoid the pitfalls, is to think about them in advance. In
this seminar we explore what moral and ethical values shape your
business practices. Then we match appearance and reality. This
seminar is often eye-opening and always insightful for
participants. Each seminar is customized to client needs.
THE URBAN PILGRIM:
Don't have time for extensive mountain top navel reading? This
is the seminar for you! We explore the historical and spiritual
goals of pilgrimages and look for "holy" places in your own
community. We'll help you develop a personal liturgy for your
journey and craft a pilgrim's schedule.
THE CONFIDENT SPIRIT: We know that confidence is the best predictor of
success, but does confidence have a spiritual component? You
might be surprised. The seminar leaves denominational issues
aside and instead adheres to what we can glean from the biblical
text. Ultimately the seminar is of benefit to anyone willing to
listen to old voices in the context of today. Ideal for
retreats.
JESUS GOES TO SCHOOL AND OTHER CURIOUS ANECDOTES ABOUT THE
BOYHOOD OF CHRIST:
A delightful look at what the non-canonical literature has to
say about the boyhood of Jesus. If you think you have a problem
with your kids, just listen to Joseph's laments! Though
non-canonical, these texts are contemporaneous with literature
of the New Testament. They reveal a popular and less theological
understanding of the person of Jesus. Or do they? The seminar
will peel away narrative from meaning and disclose a purpose
that will surprise many. Perfect for adult education programs.
